I began sand sculpting in December of 2015 after I was bitten by the bug! I was fortunate enough to be raised in a very artistic household. My mom was an art teacher at a private school in Arvada, Colorado and I grew up surrounded by her art and my grandfather’s art. I have always loved to draw and create and sand sculpting just seemed to be a natural fit. Once I caught the sand sculpting bug I researched and learned as much as I could about the art. There isn’t a whole lot of resources on the web so I learned what I could and entered my first amateur contest in May 2016 at Siesta Key. This first competition was a huge eye opener and I learned more in those 4 hours competing against other armatures than I could have learned in years of trying to figure thigs out on my own. After the competition on Siesta Key I was 100% hooked and I can say that this is a passion and I enjoy every second I can spend playing in the sand and trying to learn more about this art!

Mitch is from North Port, Florida and started sculpting in 2015
