One morning, while getting ready for a family trip to the beach, my wife showed me a YouTube video of somebody making a large sandcastle. She suggested that I would be good at it, and that it would help to fill my time while at the beach. After my 1st pound-up, I was hooked. I jumped-in feet first and learned all that I could about this ‘new’ medium. I work for a custom home builder during the week, and on the weekends, you can find me on the beaches of Southwest Florida, making something with the sand. I started chronicling my experience on social media, and I quickly gained a following of supportive folks, from around the globe. I entered two amateur contests in 2018 and learned a tremendous amount. In the spring of 2019, I was invited to participate in the 1st ever Pier 60 Pro-Am Contest on Clearwater Beach, and I placed 3rd among a group of incredibly talented artists. I especially like making time-lapse videos of the process, and just leaving something special for tourists and locals to enjoy.
